Health Care Assistant (HCA)

Salary: £18,000 - £30,000 a year - Full-time

  • Greet patient and visitors, making introductions, and assisting patient as needed
  • Prepare ahead of patient arrival by identifying patients with additional needs
  • Provide support to patients throughout their visit
  • Assist the clinical team with minor surgical procedures
  • Take down, clean and redress surgical dressings
  • Measure patients’ observations and carry out urine and blood tests
  • Ensure documentation is complete and up to date in line with our guidelines
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Work within our infection control guidelines to ensure our work methods do not constitute a risk of infection to any persons working or visiting the premises
  • Monitor and restocking levels of dressings, skincare samples etc.
  • Contribute to departmental Clinical Governance
  • Demonstrate a duty of care to our patients visiting our clinic
  • Maintaining and recording standards of cleaning
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment, taking responsibility for tidying and cleaning at the start and end of clinics
  • Communicate in a manner that is perceived as kind, constructive and helpful by patients
  • Give clear instructions about post-operative wound care to patients
  • Participate in personal and team development and in-service training activities
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional approach to work
  • Knowledge of, and adherance to, professional standards
  • The understanding and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Takes pride in organising and maintaining documentation as up to date
  • Demonstrable experience of infection control guidelines and risk of healthcare associated infections
  • Evidence of immunisations and Hep B vaccination
  • Able to promote care and establish good relationships with all patients to the clinic and to communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team
  • GCSE English & Maths
  • Able to take on challenges, discreet, diplomatic, and empathetic to patients and can work under pressure
  • Proficient English spoken and written
